Who doesn’t feel nutty every now and then? That’s sort of how this recipe came to pass. I love nuts of all kinds (deepest of sympathies to those who are allergic!), and feeling nutty from time to time, well, that’s all standard life fare, eh? So to honor nuts (I used pecans, but you could use walnuts too), I came up with this great snack/hors d’oeuvres that is (according to others) as addictive, I guess, as Aunt Sassy’s Sauces. If you have Aunt Sassy’s in the house (any flavor will do, but I like Cracked Pepper) and can get your hands on some Pecans or Walnuts, you probably have the other three ingredients, so preheat the oven and get going!! Have fun baking and let me know what you think!
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon fine grain sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups of pecans
  • 2 tablespoon Aunt Sassy’s Slightly Naughty Sauce (we like Cracked Black Pepper the best)
  1. Preheat oven to 300° F.
  2. Put all dry ingredients: brown sugar, sea salt and cinnamon into a plastic bag and mix well.
  3. Pour evenly over nuts.
  4. Add the sauce till well covered.
  5. Split nuts between two baking sheets with only parchment paper, separating them as much as possible.
  6. Bake 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to allow even baking. Nuts should no longer be wet and should appear toasted.
  7. Cool slightly on pan, then remove parchment to a cool surface to cool completely.
  8. Store in an airtight container for a week or more.
Serving size: 1/4 cup

If you’re not a fan of pecans, try this with walnuts or unsalted almonds.
